Home Maintenance Projects You Should Tackle in April

April is one of the best months to tackle some important maintenance projects around the home.

As winter winds down, April promises some warmer temperatures — and we want to make

sure our homes are prepared for the change. Tackle a few (or all!) of these projects throughout

the month to keep your home healthy and happy — both inside and out.

EXTERIOR

  • Power wash your home. Remove any mold and mildew on your home to keep it looking clean and fresh.
  • Power wash driveway, patio and deck. Your outdoor areas have likely seen a lot of foot traffic this winter. Create a clean slate by removing dirt and grime from your driveway, patio and deck!
  • Inspect roof. A happy roof means a happy home! Check your roof to make sure it is free of damage and debris, and replace any missing or damaged shingles if needed.
  • Service your HVAC Unit.
  • Trim trees. Trim off any low-hanging or weak branches that may be touching the home.  It's an easy way for ants and bugs to access your home.

INTERIOR

  • Clean your windows to protect from damage due to acid rain.
  • Clean out your dryer vent to remove accumulated lint.
  • Clean HVAC vents to get ready for A/C use and make it run more efficiently with a new filter.
  • Maintain your furnace at the end of the heating season. Make sure your furnace is running properly, especially if it is providing hot water in the non-heating season. Schedule a preventative tune-up and inspection to ensure all is in working order, this way you won't have to wait so long to have it done in the Fall.

Take Heart.  You efforts will be rewarded in a well maintained property now — and beyond
